Post 10: English Language Challenges... and the end ;(

Oh bloggers, I have bad news... this is the last post that I will be writing. Yes, this is the end of my blog, it's time to say goodbye, but don't cry for me, I'm already dead... hehe it's a joke.

Ok, my english teacher said to me that I should make an evaluation about blog experience and of course, I have some many comments to do. Firstly, I think that this was a good learning strategy because to create and write a blog is very fun and the process to design your blog can be very stimulating. Blog can be a helpful tool to make different things. I like blog's interface. I feel that I learned some english vocabulary and I can do sentences more fluent. Writting about daily and personal topics is a good idea to motivate people. Making comments in others blogs is also a good idea, because sometimes someone can answer your comment and you can have a little conversation with this person, a little interaction or chat.

Secondly, I think that we need more english practice but the we have a little time in classes. I know if I practiced more I cna speak very fluent and I can understand so much because the languages are learned by practicing and with a little of theory (I think). Probably, I will practice in another situations for improve my english because I need it.

I have one constructive comment: I think that one post for class is great but two post for class is very stressful. We need time to do it!

Ok my bloggers, it was very entertaining while it lasted.

Goodbye and be good people

Post 9:Changes to my study program

Hello bloggers, today I am going to talk about my career and my study program in Facultad de Ciencias Forestales y Conservación de la Naturaleza.

More specific, I am going to talk about the changes that I want to do in the study program. First, I think that Faculty should invest a lot of money in buildings and infrastructure because we are a lot of students and there´s no enough space for all. We need more study rooms, more computer rooms with new computers or at least a good set of computers in good conditions, and we need an auditorium for presentations and ceremonies. In summary, we need another "Pabellón Arauco" and now! because the enrollment will continue increasing.

Secondly, I think that teachers should be according to the program focus, because the program is based in abilities ("competencias") but a little group of old teachers have another point of view more traditional and they do not teach skills only pure knowledge. I think that they have an out-of-date notion of the career and the program.

Finally, I think that the Faculty can improve the program from different ways, because it is a new process or stage in the history of the Faculty and the authorities are testing different things in the program and somethings are not good ideas. For example, I think that we should have rubrics for all (or almost all) the evalutions like test, exams, presentations, written documents or homeworks, etc., because in many occasions I have been some problems because the homework instructions or the test rules are very ambiguous and finally the teacher or the teacher assistant decide under her discretion or impartial opinion.

But, I can not be so negative... I think that it is a good career and I like this Faculty. it has problems but all have solution.

Post 8: Summer Holidays

Hi bloggers, I am so tired because I am begining the end of my semester and I will have many tests, presentations and evaluations. So, I have to study a lot and sleep too little ;c, it´s very complicated for me because I love sleep a lot. Probably you can look me very irritable during these days. Take me patience please...

So, the proverb says "after the storm, comes the calm" or more contemporary "keep calm and think in the future", and it is exactly that I do because my summer holidays are around the corner !!!! I will be doing works until january thirty one and later I will travel to the south of Chile. First, I will travel to the house of my grandmother near to Temuco. I will stay there about three weeks and then I will travel to Puerto Montt and there I will take a aeroplane and go to Balmaceda in Aysen region. I will meet with two friends and we want to go across the lakes, the mountains, the rivers, deep green rainforest, and many others exciting and stranger places and landscapes. I never have been to Aysen region, this will be my first time and I am very excited and a little bit crazy about it. Have you been in these places or in another austral places? I only want to finish and complete my semester and go to the south of Chile.

And you? what about you? what will you do in your summer holidays?

Post 7: Astronomy

Hi astrobloggers, today I`m going to talk about Astronomy. I don't have much to say about it, I have not read some book about it and I don´t understand so much about stars, planets, supernovas, nebula, cosmic matter and these atronomics things. However, I think that all that I have learned was by movies or short cientifics news.

So, I am going to introduce this post with a little description about Astronomy: "Astronomy is the study of the sun, moon, stars, planets, comets, gas, galaxies, gas, dust and other non-Earthly bodies and phenomena. In curriculum for K-4 students, NASA defines astronomy as simple the study of stars, planets and space."

When I was a teenager, I confused Astronomy with Astrology because I thinked that greek ending "-ology" was only used to describe science like Biology, Sociology, Geology, etc., but a good teacher taught me that it isn`t true and I learned that Astronomy is the real science and Astrology is not a science and is not having anything to do with Astronomy.

I only know one astronomic thing: the sky in the north of Chile is the best to see planets, starts, comets and any others kind of things. I have read something about The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (people say it ALMA). It is a revolutionary instrument in its scientific concept, its engineering design, and its organization as a global scientific endeavor. There is in Atacama desert at an altitude of 5000 meters above sea level... I think that it is a great invention and a piece of master technology that could help us to discover our cosmic origins!!!!

So, what do you know about Astronomy ?

Post 6: Postgraduate Studies

Hello people! We start a new week, how are you ? I´m so tired because I didn´t sleep a lot. Well, now I will talking about postgraduate studies, yo now, I´m undergraduate student but in three years later I will be a forester.

I like study and learn about different topics related to my career and environment. I think that postgraduate studies are a good option for me because I could learn so much and acquire some skills that I need. I want to do it in another country because I want to know different cultures and different points of view about problems of the world. I don´t know what postgraduate study I will to do, it´s very difficult to me choose one and now I only study my subjects but I have seen some differents kind of masters (MSc) like "MSc in Human Ecology - Culture, Power and Sustainability" in Lund University (Sweden) or "Master Biomass and Waste for Energy and Materials (BiWEM)" in Ecole Des Mines D’Albi-Carmaux (France) or "Master Environmental Sciences" in Wageningen University (Holand) or "Master’s Degree Programme in Multidisciplinary Studies on Urban Environmental Issues (MURE)" in University of Helsinki (Finlad)... you can see that I like different areas.

I would like study a postgraduate by blended system or part-time course, but I´m very flexible and I don´t have problem with the programm. Sometimes I think about a PhD degree but maybe it could be so difficult to do because you need more experience and theory on your mind.

And you? what do you think?

Post 5: My future job!

Ok bloggers, I am not really sure about my future job, I don´t know many things about my future, it´s a difficult question to me :S...but I think that I would like to work outdoors and I would like to travel a lot in my job, these ideas exciting me. I don´t want to have family or sons, so I think that I could travel a lot without responsibilities and pressures.

I think that my future job could be in a uncomfortable environments or places in danger with over-exploitation, poor human populations, several political and social problems and loss of biodiversity. These places could be in Chile or in the other unknow countries in middle or near east, Central Asia, Central America, Africa, I don´t know...The world has many countries that needs help. I prefer work in environmental jobs because I like it and I think that I could provide asistance, but also I could be work in others jobs if it will be necessary.

Currently, I think it, but maybe in three years later I would like to work in another think and I would like others kind of jobs. My future is uncertain. In my present I only study a lot and live the life.

And you? What do you think about your future?

Post 4: Huerquehue´s National Park

Hi bloggers. How are you? How was your week? I´m very fine. Today I would talking about Huerquehue´s National Park. In mapudungun it´s means "place of messengers". This is a public park of SNASPE state system.

This National Park is located in the foothills of Andes Mountain, in La Araucanía region, near to Pucon, in the south of Chile. Huerquehue park has 12.500 hectares and has a elevation range of 720 to 2.000 meters above sea level. You can see that it´s a steep park. The Huerquehue´s forest are "Valdivian temperate rainforest" and you can see different species like "araucaria", "coigüe" and "lenga". Hurquehue´s fauna is very beautiful, you can see "pudus", "pumas", "ranita de Darwin", "condores" and "monitos del monte".

In the top of the park you can see differents lakes, the most popular are: Lago Chico, Lago Verde, Lago Toro, Lago Tinquilco, Lago Huerquehue and Lago Los Patos, Laguna Seca, Laguna Pehuén, Laguna Los Cóndores, Laguna El Sacrificio, Laguna Las Mercedes and Laguna las Mellizas.

I have been visited this park once upon the time and I really liked it. I felt a magic atmosphere I want to visit it again. If you like nature, peace and hiking I recommend you Huerquehue´s National Park.

Post 3: Films and films

Hello people of internet. I want to talk about films. I really like films, series, documentaries, mockumentaries and many others kind of audiovisual expression.
I would like to have a lot of free time to see a lot of films in my house, or in the cinema or any place.

I see very different kinds of films, I have not a favorite type of films but I really dislike romantic films and comercial films (you know, Hollywood films). Usually, romantic films are a comercial creation... I hate these with all of my ice heart.

Currently I discovered a good greek director, he is Yorgos Lanthimos. I´ve seen three films of this director: Canino, Alps and The Lobster, and one movie that he produce: Attenberg. All these movies are very stranger if you analize psychology´s characters and routine´s movie. Alps was the first movie that I saw, and after that I felt very confused... I didn´t understand nothing, but I liked the idea of director.

I think that these films and other greek films like Miss Violence, reflect the social caos in Greece before, during and after the recession in the last 20 years. Probably, these movies can be a global representation of occidental society in a near future if economic system destroys the social structure :o

I let you a trailer!!

Post 2: Holidays

Hello my dears bloggers! I don`t have favorite or best holiday because I think that all holidays are a good option for relax, rest and do anything else or any activity with friends, family or funny people... it is right and necessary, I love holidays.

Well, when I finish the semester,  I generally  I travel to my grandmother's house in the south of Chile, and I stay there for one month or more if I can. It's a very beautiful country near Carahue, a small town in La Araucanía region. The  Imperial river flows  along one side whereas on the other you can see the Coastal Mountain. All the area has plants and trees; the landscape has a powerful green color and you can see farmers working on the hillside. It's so quiet and peaceful. If you can going there sometime (in your life), you will understand what I mean. I really like that place; it's so nice!

Carahue is a good place but I want to visit any other places in Chile and the rest of the world (alone or with few group of people). I am a young man and I can support unfavourable situations (I think :o), it is fun and a real experience of life that can teach me a lot.

And what about you?

Post 1: A country I'd like to visit

Hi bloggers, I´ve always wanted to travel around the world, it idea motivate me so much. I want to travel and know different places, countries and know landscapes and people of the other cultures. Food, people, colors, animals, cultures and many other interesting things are very exciting for me.

If I have the chance of travelling, I think that Bhutan ("Kingdom of Bhutan") would be a special country to visit. It is a small country in the Eastern Himalayas in South Asia. It´s very quiet and peaceful place. The bhutaneses, people that live in Buthan, are friendly and humble people. Bhutan population is so small, only has 770.000 people!!! State religion is Buddhism but many people are followers of Hinduism. Their economy isn´t based on GDP (or PIB in spanish), they have their own economy index, it´s "Gross National Happiness" (GNH) a holistic concept.

Bhutan have a lot of biodiversity and  according to the Swiss-based International Union for Conservation of Nature (UICN), Bhutan is viewed as a model for proactive conservation initiatives. The country have forest, mountains (Himalayas) and many national parks, reserves or protected areas... I´ve seen some pictures and I think that it´s a great place to visit ;).

Welcome to my blog friends!

Hello bloggers, I'm back again, but this time I'm writing from B1+ level! ...Yes, I passed the last semester. So you don't say me good bye.
Ok, let my introduce myself: My name is Benjamín Morales Lobos, I'm 22 years old, I study forestry at Universidad de Chile in Campus Antumapu (Sta. Rosa Avenue 11315).  I'm undergraduate, this is my second year in the career. I think that blog is a good tool for learning, and I developed some skills with my blog last semester.

You know that this blog is for English subject, so, I hope that you can read and comment my posts!

Post 10: Blog Experience

Oh bloggers, I have bad news... this is the last post that I will be writing. Yes, this is the end of my blog, it's time to say goodbye, but don't cry for me, I'm already dead... hehe it's a joke.

Ok, my english teacher said to me that I should make an evaluation about blog experience and of course, I have some many comments to do. Firstly, I think that this was a good learning strategy because to create and write a blog is very fun and the process to design your blog can be very stimulating. Blog can be a helpful tool to make different things. I like blog's interface :b.

Secondly, I feel that I learned some english vocabulary and I can do sentences more fluent. Writting about daily and personal topics is a good idea to motivate people. Making comments in others blogs is also a good idea, because sometimes someone can answer your comment and you can have a little conversation with this person, a little interaction or chat.

But!!! I have one constructive comment: All the posts should be written in house, as homework, because in classes there are not time to do it. Teacher could use this time to explain other things and students could write their posts with more calm.

Finally, from my point of view, blog should continue to be used as a tool to learn english in this course.

Well bloggers, never say goodbye ;)

Post 9: Vacations

I love vacations, I need it because I study a lot during the year and when comes the end of semester I'm so tired, distracted and a little stressed. Vacations gives me power for the rest of the year, It's so great.

Well, when I finish the semester, generally I travel to my grandmother's house in the south of Chile, and I stay there one month or more if I can. It's a very beutiful country near to Carahue, a small town in La Araucanía region. Imperial river flows by one side and by the other side you can see the Coastal Mountain. All the area has plants and trees, landscape has a green powerful color and you can see farmers working on the hillside. It's so quiet and peaceful. If you can going there in sometime of your life, you will understand what I say. I really like this place, it's so nice!

By other hand, in the last four years, I've experienced an anormal willingly to discover and explore others places that I don't know. I've traveled with my backpack, and very few things,  for some interesting landscapes. I enjoy to do it and I know that I will continue to doing.

And what about you?

Post 8: A subject

Hi guys! I'm so tired, and you? This semester was very demanding for me because I had seven subjects (it was a voluntary decision) and only three of this subjects were interesting. The other four were so bored and I didn't pay much attention and effort to them. Sometimes, I was very tired and all subjects seemed to me a little annoying. I'm not a lazy man, I like to study different matters and learn about interesting things... at least I try to think it about myself, but I know that the decision to do many subjects was not the best :|

Well, it was not all bad during this semester. I had a really good subject, called "Principles of Social Ecology". It was an elective course and I didn't have so many classes but I really enjoyed it, because the main idea of this subject was the human-environment relationship with an anarchist (or at least an anti-establishment) approach. In classes, people spoke about domination between humans and also between human and nature, you know, humanity has not been the most condescending with environment. The principal thesis was that "in capitalism, man dominates nature and in the same way (under the same logic) dominate other humans", it produces abnormal relationships and over-exploitation of natural resources. I'm not anarchist, but I think that it's very interesting, I agree with this... I believe it . See you! :)

Post 7: VeoVerde Website

Hi guys! Today I want to share you a good website related to my career. It is "VeoVerde", an environmental online newspaper. This includes more than forestry issues, frequently it have other news from other websites, probably runned by friends of “VeoVerde” creators. I like this website because news are related to environmental problems in all the world, also Chile, and usually the journalists write with official information, so I can look it and check the source.

I think that this website was developed for chilean people but I'm not sure. “Veoverde” is a spanish website, but "Betazeta Networks S.A." (yes, same company of CHW, FayerWayer, Niube, Belelú and Wayerless) has the main domain.

I don't use it to develop my university's works but it is a good starting point when I'm browsing on Internet. I use it to know original or news ideas about recycling, environmental tools, sustainability, green public policies, scientific investigations, the status of threatened species of flora/fauna, etc.

If you have free time, I recommend you this website. Its interface is so friendly and the webpage style is very nice!

https://www.veoverde.com/

Post 6: Music!!!

Hi bloggers! I haven't written a long time ago, I'm back! How are you? What do you do? Today I will speak about music ;)

I will say one thing: music is more than "listen to music" for me, it is an activity, I dedicate so much time to listening to music, watching videos, searching on the Internet about bands, music styles, OSTs, concerts and news about artists, etc. When I was in secondary school I played piano, but currently I don´t have time to play any instruments ;/ I will do it in a near future, though.
I listen different kinds of music, but all of them have one characteristic in common (or at least I believe that). The musicians that I listen use music as a tool of resistance, they have a noncommercial style to express their ideas, feelings, sensations or anything else, and that help me survive in modern life. I reject music styles like pop, romantic music, reggaeton music, MTV-music and a lots of American music in general... because you know, they are the empire and strongly dominant ideas are transmitted by that culture. I think about music as an expression of art, not as "bread and circus"... yes, music is a delicate topic for me... and probably you are thinking that I'm a crazy old man.

Well, you know, I don't have a "faaaaaavorite" band or artist, but I want to give you a piece of art obtained from another piece of art:

Post 5: A photograph I like

Hello Blogers. I like photos, but I don´t like to people take me photos. When I was a child, my mom always always was taking pictures in different moments, when I was in bathroom, when we went to the beach in family, in vacations, in schooldays, all the time my mom was taking photographs. My father liked it, but I and my brother and my sister didn´t liked it. So, all photographs in which I appear are bored. I prefer take a picture that appear in this.

I show you a photograph that I took. I took it in my past summer vacations in Puerto Misahuallí, Ecuador. Place is beautiful. It is a small town (less than a hundred people live there) near to Misahualli River and Napo River, very quiet and cozy. People are very friendly with tourist and hostals are cheap. I like this place and I want to return there some day...
In the photograph you can see a capuchin monkey. Central park of Puerto Misahuallí has many capuchin monkeys. They live there in freedom and tourist can interact with them. Monkeys are so sweet and funny but you always should stay alert because they are very agile and if they can, they will steal your food or your phone or you camera. However, a monkey bit me because I didn´t want to give him a butter bowl. His name was Peco. I don´t hate him even though he scared me.

Post 4: My pets

Hello bloggerssss. I like this topic, I like pets but I don´t like domination between humans and pets :/
I have had pets all of my life, but only cats and dogs. The first pet that I remember was a cat, Its name was "Ocarina". It was pet of my dad, he always have liked the cats. It died due to a neighbor poisoned it. In that moment I experimented the death ;(. When I was seven years old, I often adopted stray cats with my sister. My parents didn´t like it because isn´t easy support many pets, they shooed away it although it be difficult for them. Finally we (I and my sister) win!, we adopted a pregnant stray cat, its name was "Misisufina".
In 2002, we moved away to another house and the cats (Misisufina and one of its daughter, Valentina) could not bear, Misisufina was ran over and Valentina gets sick and died. The era of cats ended.
Now I have three dogs, "Mawa" (cocker spanish), "Toffy" (cocker) and recently "Danesa" (semi-chau chau). They are very important on my life and I have them much appreciation. Mawa and Toffy are my responsability and my sister. They are very happy (I think) and  active. They can walk without chain and I like it because I think that it give them freedom.
I have a secret, when I don´t have someone to talk, I speak with them.

Post 3: Amaizing Technology

Hello Bloggers!!!! This topic is mine ;) because I like so very much the technology. Honestly, best expression for that is "me asusta pero me gusta", because the use of technology can be dangerous if it fall into the wrong hands :o.

In other post I explained that I don´t do "favorite things", but some pieces of technology appeal me. I will write about only two technology´s pieces.

First of all: computers. I think that it is the most increible invention in the history of the humanity. With its invention, the world began a new technological revolution and information age. It has evolved drastically but the mean idea is the same. Computers support all the programms, videogames, applications, and software in general that you use in your normal life. I had my first computer when I was 7 yeras old. Currently, I use my personal laptop all the time for different uses such as study, watching videos, talking with friends or family, etc. I know that I can live without a computer, but I don´t want to think about it.

The other one are the AIs, although these are not exactly an object. Artificial Intelligence is a sophisticated software that try to imitate a human mind. In my opinion, it is an ultimate piece of technology. A perfect AI can take decisions without orders. This is the frontier between humans and machines... Science fiction´s movies and books, for example "Matrix", "2001: A Space Odyssey", "Metropolis", "Robot Dreams", "Ex machina", "Snow Crash" and some many others, provide a vision about AIs and its rol in society. Often, the question is ¿what is a human and what is a machine? ¿why?. Currently, scientistis have developed some prototypes of AIs, and they estimate that it will progress quickly to reach "sea of data" processing autonomously.

Post 2: Why did I choose Forestry?

Ok, this is a complicated topic for me as all the "vocations topics" because I don´t know clearly what I want and how I want... The questions relative to crucial or important decisions take me a lot of time to resolving it.
In my infancy I didn't think in careers or professions, just I liked some things. Nature, videogames, play with my friends in the passageway, ride ona bike, watch anime, etc. In the secondary school I started to worry about my future. I didn´t know what study when I passing school but I did know that I should study a career. So, I prepare PSU test thinking to access to Programa de Bachillerato, because people said "the program orients people and it is a good option for introduce you at university", but it wasn´t truth ;(. I learned a lot of subject, it was ok, but it wasn´t my objetive.

After three hardly semesters in the program (I didn´t want more) I had a little suspicion that Forestry could be a career for me. I visited Campus Antumapu and I liked it. Teachers and persons in charge were very polite and friendly with me. Another important aspect was that I saw me working in future in a relative forestry´s area.

I still have my vocationals questions, but for the moment it is funny.

Post 1 : My autobiography

Hello people. I let´s talk you about myself and my life. I was born in Santiago (I hate this city), in 1994, but I was baptized in Carahue, a little town near Temuco. I´m not a religious man but my family yes. I think that religion is a perverse institution and personally I don´t trust it. I studied twelve years in religious schools (San Viator School). Later I entered Universidad de Chile, and currently I study Forestry in this university. My family is big because we are six people and two pets. I have two sisters and one brother. I don`t have specifics activities that I do in my free time, it`s very variable, but I like share with my friends a lot, see movies and documentarys in my computer and cinema, ride in bike, eat a lot of food, go for a walk with my pets, listening music, etc. In general, I don´t have "favorite color" or "favorite food" or "only best friend", etc., in my opinion these categories are not necessary to my person.
